Bra Fitting Guide
At Brafit Direct, our main focus is helping you find your most comfortable and supportive bra fit, whatever the size, brand or what traditional measuring systems 'assume' your size might be. A comfortable and supportive bra makes you feel great, reduces breast pain associated with a poor fit and enhances your natural figure.
To avoid outdated measuring systems and manufacturers using inconsistent sizing, get your Brafit Measurement and let Brafit Direct find your perfect bra fit using your own individual measurements.
When you've found your new bra, here are four ways to know you have found your true fit:
- BACK: We recommend you start wearing your new bra on the loosest clasp so you have the ability to tighten the bra as the fabric stretches over time. The back of the bra should sit horizontally across your back and not be too tight or too loose. You should be able to comfortably run 2 fingers underneath the back of the bra. If the bra is riding up at the back, then the band size may be too large or you may need to loosen the straps slightly.
- CUPS: If the cup size is too big you will notice that there is excess material creating a wrinkling effect. If the cup size is too small, your bust will be bulging over the top. Each of your breasts should be enclosed within the cup, even if the bra is low cut or a balconette style. If you have one breast noticeably smaller than the other, the bra should fit your largest breast perfectly and you can use natural padding to fill out the other cup - no one will ever notice!
- UNDERWIRE: The underwire should sit flat against your body and not dig in. It should be quite difficult to get your fingers underneath the underwire but it shouldn’t be so tight that it is uncomfortable or leaving red indentations on the skin.
- SHOULDER STRAPS: These should be comfortable and not so tight that they are leaving red marks on your shoulders. You should be able to run 2 fingers underneath each strap comfortably. The straps should not be tightened to their full capacity, as you will need room to tighten the bra as it will stretch over time.
The best thing we can recommend is that a brand new bra should be so comfortable it feels like you are not wearing one at all!
