Caring For Your Bra

To ensure your bras stay looking as beautiful as they did the day they were delivered, here are some simple care instructions to prolong the fit and feel of your bras. These easy care instructions are useful for all types of bras including basic T-shirt and strapless bras and even intricate lingerie sets.

No one knows your new bra quite like the manufacturer, so following their instructions (usually found near the clasps or where the underwire meets the band) will ensure you take care of the bra's delicate fabrics.

If the manufacturer's care instructions are no longer visible or are missing, here are some simple tips and tricks:

  • Hand wash your bras whenever you can in cold water with a mild detergent. Gently rub the bra to help lift any perfume, perspiration or cosmetics that might be on the fabric. Ensure you rinse thoroughly in cold water to remove any excess detergent and dry flat in the shade to protect the bra's colour, fabric and elasticity.
  • If hand washing is not always an option, you can machine wash your bras on a delicate cold water cycle in a lingerie bag. Lingerie bags are specially formulated mesh bags that allow the water and detergent in but stop the bra from being pulled or tugged in the wash. It is recommended that if machine washing your bras, do up the back bra clasps so the hooks do not catch other fabrics in your lingerie bag.
  • Separate your whites, colours and darks before washing and only wash items together of a similar colour.
  • Always drip dry your bras in the shade, away from direct sunlight. The dryer will only damage your bra as the extreme heat can fade colours, stretch fabrics and damage the underwire - so opt for the clothes rack when drying each time.
  • Wear a different bra every day. Not only will alternating your bras allow them to return to their original shape, but also it will add a little something special to your day when you are wearing something new and glamourous underneath.

Follow these simple instructions to keep your bras looking and feeling their best. It is recommended to wash your newly purchased bras, lingerie and swimwear before you wear them to set the garment's colours.

These care instructions can also be followed for all delicate items you have including briefs, lingerie, hosiery and swimwear.
